Selenite is a very soft and highly porous mineral (ranking a 2 on the Mohs hardness scale). It is water-soluble and must be kept entirely away from moisture. Washing or wiping this plate with water will cause it to cloud, degrade, or dissolve. To clean, simply dust it gently with a dry, soft microfiber cloth.
